How to Inspect a Wall Mount AC Freight Delivery (Before You Sign)

Freight truck on the highway delivering equipment

Wall mount units ship by freight truck, not parcel carrier. Most deliveries arrive in perfect shape. When they don't, what you do in the ten minutes before signing decides how easy it is to fix.

Before the truck arrives

  • Have someone on site who knows what was ordered: model number, quantity, and any options such as the protective crate.
  • Have the equipment on hand to unload it. Freight drivers generally aren't responsible for moving heavy equipment off the truck.
  • Have a phone ready to take photos.

What to check

  • Count and model. Match the pieces and model numbers against the bill of lading and your order.
  • Packaging. Look for crushed corners, punctures, tipped or tilted packaging, and forklift damage.
  • Cabinet. Look for dents, bent panels, and scraped or crushed corners.
  • Coils. Look through the openings for flattened fins or impact marks.
  • Oil or refrigerant. Oily residue inside or around the unit can point to a damaged line.

If you find damage

  1. Write it on the delivery receipt before you sign, and be specific, for example "right side panel dented, coil fins crushed." Avoid vague notes like "subject to inspection."
  2. Take photos of the damage, the packaging, and the truck and trailer number.
  3. Contact us right away at 509-379-7075 so we can start the claim.

Our full freight damage terms are in the store's shipping policy.

Want extra protection?

Every unit in our Wall Mount HVAC Units collection has an Optional Protective Crate add-on. It's worth considering for remote sites, multiple transfers, or projects where a damaged unit would cause a costly delay.
